Email: artzraven@yahoo.com Deming NM. 88030 Born in Chicago, Illinois, Zandra presently lives in Deming, New Mexico, and has been fascinated by the arts since an early age. In fifth grade, her work was exhibited in a contest by the Chicago Art Institute, which inspired her to continue expanding her knowledge of different mediums. After graduating with an associate in fine arts, she is pursuing a bachelor’s at Western New Mexico University. As an interdisciplinary artist, she has worked in various mediums but has recently been working in sculpture, watercolor, and silversmithing. Zandra incorporates organic forms, repurposed manufactured components, and natural rocks and gems into her art to express the intrinsic beauty of the Southwest. Themes of animals and nature are prevalent, as she uses her work to draw awareness to the importance of recycling and preserving natural habitats.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Since I was young, I have been interested in art, from decorating the school hallways to doodling under my bed in the late-night hours; my passion for drawing grew stronger and stronger until I decided to attend art classes and master different media. This desire to learn is what motivates my interest as an interdisciplinary artist.
Each medium is a new way to express myself and explore new concepts and ideas. While I currently enjoy painting and sculpture, I also revel in silversmithing. I continually seek ways to enhance my work and go beyond normal boundaries to convey original and unique conceptualizations. I integrate natural and recycled items into my sculptures and paintings to fabricate unusual and beautiful artistic compositions.
